Faraway Bay

Never was a place so well named - Faraway Bay is situated in the far north-west corner of Western Australia, near the mouth of the King George River, faraway from any towns.

There is no road access, the only way in is via a 70-minute flight in a light aircraft from Kununurra. The flight itself is an attraction as the aircraft passes over the Ord River Irrigation System, Cambridge Gulf, Wyndham, Berkeley River Gorges, King George Falls, cattle country and the magnificent coastline.

At the end of the flight there is only one accommodation property, the wonderfully situated and remote The Bush Camp at Faraway Bay.

Not only is the property both in a spectacular and remote location, but you can have as much privacy as you"d like, since the most people the property can accommodate is 12, in 6 2-person hillside cabins.

Once there you"ll find a wide range of activities and leisurely pursuits:

Cruise the ocean waters or the King George River in the property"s 13 metre cruise vessel, the Diamond Lass

Get the lowdown on the local fishing

Dine and relax in the property"s main building, the Eagle Lodge, with its 180-degree ocean views

Swim in the cliffside freshwater plunge pool

Find a nearby waterfall for a unique way to shower (though rest assured, the property does have hot showers for you to use)

Star gaze free of the glare of city lights

Explore the bush in a 4WD

Take a walk and see some of the area"s plentiful and rare fauna and flora - birds such as the jabiru, great-billed heron and wedge-tailed eagle, in the water saltwater and freshwater crocodiles, barracuda, manta rays, reef and hammerhead sharks, black bream, dugongs and dolphins, and on land see dingoes, brown snakes, goannas, wallabies... all these and plenty more.

Please note that the property is closed from November to March, due to the wet season.
