Venus Bay

Venus Bay is a small coastal village in South Gippsland, set amongst sand dunes that back onto the restless waves of Bass Strait. There are five excellent but challenging surf beaches nearby which are patrolled in summer, including Venus Bay, Inverloch, Cape Paterson and Walkerville.

Close by, Tarwin Lower is a small, pretty town on the Tarwin River near Anderson's Inlet, Victoria"s longest sand spit. It is a popular holiday destination.

The river is a popular fishing spot, while the town's other features include a scenic river boardwalk and arts and craft outlets. The historic general store doubles as an information centre. The local watering hole, the Tarwin Hotel, offers great food, cold beer, fine wine and friendly service and company.

At Bald Hill wetlands near Tarwin Lower, you can see mangroves and the abundant bird life. Take a bushwalk in Cape Liptrap Coastal Park to see the historic lighthouse. Spectacular Wilson's Promontory is within comfortable driving distance.
