Murrayville

Located 24km east of the South Australian border in north-west Victoria, Murrayville is in the heart of unique Mallee country. Its treasure is an underground basin which produces water of virtual rain quality - a supply that is essential for irrigation-dependent potato and other small crop farmers. Murrayville is a prosperous and well-appointed small town in a Mallee Highway agricultural corridor bounded on the north by the vast, Murray-Sunset National Park and on the south by the Wyperfield National Park and the Big Desert Wilderness Park. This is, indeed, Big Country. Even the town walk over the Pine Hill trail, which wanders through a habitat rich in native flora and birdlife, takes a couple of hours to complete and those encircling parks are of a brand that demand a map, compass, definitive plan, oodles of water, bushcraft and commonsense and 4WD power and adaptability. If you are mounted on a 2WD vehicle be satisfied with the roadside spring wildflower show.
