Baxter Accommodation, Hotels, Tours & Information

Baxter

Baxter is perched just off the Frankston-Flinders Road in the City of Frankston on the southern fringe of the Melbourne metropolitan area.

It is perfectly positioned for visitors to explore the scenic Mornington Peninsula, with its holiday and fishing resorts, its surf and bay beaches, its views over both Port Phillip Bay and Western Port and its vineyards.

Frankston"s Canadian Bay, off Mt Eliza, was cast in the international spotlight in the late 1950s when celebrated Hollywood director Stanley Kramer chose it as the location for his film version of Neville Shute"s novel On The Beach.

The Frankston-Flinders Road skirts the eastern shoreline of the peninsula and side roads take you to seaside towns such as Hastings and Stony Point where you can hop a ferry to French Island and to Cowes on Phillip Island.

From the island you can interconnect with another ferry which gives passengers a close up of basking fur seals on Seal Rocks.
