Fraser Coast

Discover why the Fraser Coast is "perfect by nature”. World Heritage Listed Fraser Island is a paradise of unique flora and fauna, pristine rainforests, stretches of beaches, beautiful lakes, crystal clear creeks and world-class fishing experiences.

Take a journey through a section of the Fraser Island Great Walk – a 90 kilometre walking trail through rainforests, lakes and creeks, coloured sands and dunes, a great way to explore the island’s hidden treasures.

Hervey Bay is an emerging seaside town with a picturesque foreshore, north facing beaches and calm waters ideal for water sports. Explore the Urangan Marina, a vibrant marina precinct with resort style shopping and an array of restaurants. View humpback whales as they rest in the sheltered waters off Hervey Bay during their migratory journey. Hervey Bay is an ideal
destination for a family holiday and a great base from which to explore Fraser Island.

Rainbow Beach has endless stretches of uncrowded beaches and is one of the great 4WD beach driving experiences. Explore the Great Sandy Straits National Park and visit Carlo Sand Blow for magical views of the ocean, or the Teewah Coloured Sands - spectacular cliffs of multi-coloured sands.

Weather Guide
Fraser Coast temperature average
Summer 21ºC to 29ºC
Autumn 15ºC to 27ºC
Winter 11ºC to 21ºC
Spring 14ºC to 26ºC

What to bring:
Most Queenslanders dress informally, although reasonable dress standards are maintained in restaurants, hotels and bars. Lightweight clothing is suitable all year round, however bring something
warm to slip on, as the temperature drops at night during winter. To ensure adequate protection from the sun we suggest you bring a broad-brimmed hat, SPF 30+ sunscreen, sunglasses and a long sleeved shirtwith a collar.

Beach Safety:
Queensland has some of the world’s best beaches, however care and caution should be exercised at all times. Please remember to swim between the red
and yellow flags and listen to the instructions for the lifesavers and lifeguards.
