Tamborine

The jewel in the crown of the spectacular Gold Coast hinterland, Mount Tamborine is a stunning place of natural sub-tropical rainforests and eucalypt groves, mixed with introduced trees and shrubbery which seem to blend together better here than they do in many other places.

Only 40 minutes or so by car from the coast, the mountain is a cooler place in summer, and offers spectacular coastal views from Coolangatta to Moreton Bay. A place of some beautiful homes and gardens, part of the charm of the mountain are the roadside stalls offering a variety of seasonal, local produce, including tropical fruits, jams and preserves, and rhubarb, which grows prolifically in these parts.

Bed and breakfast retreats are thick on the ground and fresh local produce is turned into something magic in the restaurants and cafes.
