Roselands

At the heart of the Canterbury-Bankstown district in south-western Sydney suburbia, you won't find Roselands per se on many maps or street directories, although it has its own postcode. Usually, it shows up as Lakemba.

Anyway, it"s just off Canterbury Road - a major artery which is simply crammed with new and used car yards and a variety of other commercial shopfronts.

This densely-populated area is widely multicultural these days, which is reflected in the variety of ethnic food stores, restaurants and places of worship.

Roseland"s signature is Sydney"s first major shopping centre which, when it was built in the 1960s, was one of the largest undercover centres in the world.

To say they're football, rugby league, mad out this way is something of an understatement. Their beloved Bulldogs have been going to battle since 1935 and it would be a brave Roselands resident who would support another team or, even worse, another football code.
