Louth
The tiny town of Louth (population 50) sits on the banks of the Darling River and came into existence in 1856 when a pub was built to cater for the passing river trade. Today the population expands to thousands when the Louth Turf Club holds their annual race meeting in August. The event had become so popular that the local airfield usually hosts upwards of fifty aeroplanes. Louth with a cemetery that holds a monument to love. Louth's small cemetery has the Matthews Monument, a tribute to love and tragedy, which projects an impressive beam of light during sunset each day - has to be seen to be believed.
