Hidden from Pacific Highway travellers on the coast road that runs north from Mooball to the Tweed River, Bogangar and Cabarita Beach are but two of the gems that adorn this 34km strip.

Despite long-held fears that developers harboured grandiose plans for this far northern New South Wales coastal stretch, the wild, unspoiled beauty of the region has largely survived into the new millennium. How much longer, however, depends on the next generation of politicians and their town planning advisers.

Some of the surf beaches which run north from Pottsville, Hastings Point and Cabarita to Kingscliff are patrolled, and the creeks and estuaries behind the dune system provide good fishing or the opportunity to just potter about - both in and out of boats.

There is a small but interesting range of restaurants on the strip and a broad selection of accommodation. The twin border resorts of Tweed Heads and Coolangatta are less than half an hour away.
