Peak Hill is a little town with a big heart of gold! The town's history is linked with the discovery of gold in 1889. 'Dig around' a little and you'll find the story of Peak Hill's golden history is not far below the surface. The Peak Hill Visitor Information Centre is located in the main street and this is where you can pick up advice to help you make the most of your visit. Peak Hill is rich in arts and crafts, Sugar n Spice café /Gallery, The Rusty Shed Gallery and the Antiques stores in the main street are worth a visit. Most of Peak Hill's accommodation is also in the main street just off the main Street. If you're looking for a picnic spot, Memorial Park, on the main street has picnic tables, electric barbecue and toilets. Alternately just six kilometres west of town, Bogan Weir offers shady picnic areas and opportunities for bird watching, canoeing and fishing. Peak Hill's open cut gold mine is inactive now and the mine viewing platform and walking-trail are open for groups of 10 or more by appointment.
